Summer is quickly fading and today marks the first day of my third year serving the Laker’s football team as team chaplain. Football camp begins in the morning and it is an exciting time to be a Laker!
Supersonic begins its second student ministry season September 15th. We are adding Supersonic EXP to the mix this year which will meet mid-month for an ongoing discussion time for our students who want more. This will be a multi-sport/all student outreach used as a follow-up to each Supersonic meeting.
Next week Thursday I have the privilege to lead our Lady Lakers Basketball team and coaches to Alabama (Roll Tide!) for another week of Serve Tuscaloosa. We will provide continued tornado relief and we plan to run a basketball camp for children in the area as well. What a great opportunity for the Lakers to serve this hurting community! Our trip will be featured throughout the week via the GVSU website. Val will post the connecting information on our website/Facebook group page.
Yesterday we had the opportunity to present Moriah at an area church’s mission emphasis Sunday. Brian Wilder, a recent GVSU grad/track team member came with me and did a great job. Brian will be assisting me in Tuscaloosa next week as well. Brian is volunteering this year with Supersonic as he continues his preparation for a career in medicine. We are honored to have him join our team! (Brian is 2nd from left in the photo)
Thanks for your faithful care and concern for this life-changing work,
Chap Andy
P.S. Save the date! Our yearly Ministry Dessert Fundraiser will be held on Monday night, October 3, at the lovely GVSU Alumni House. Don’t miss this great evening with students and coaches!
