Moriah Ministries Staff

Tony Bonacci  has as his specific focus, serving the Track and Field team, the largest group of athletes at GVSU.  Tony’s personal history with Track and Field gives him a solid base for reaching out and understanding the needs of the students in this wide ranging sport. In addition to serving with us, Tony is a husband, Dad and a local businessman – he is the owner of Stitchtime.  He can regularly be found in the Track and Field Building, at their many events and practices, on the road cheering them on and getting to know these students and coaches, encouraging them with a heartfelt passion to make a difference in their lives.

Chap Andy McDaniel – Executive Director  Under Andy’s leadership, Moriah Ministries is a vibrant growing ministry, influencing countless students at Grand Valley State University.  Andy developed and directs our student outreach, touching the lives of hundreds of students and alumni.  This ministry is changing the lives of students who never would have considered faith as a priority during their college careers.  Andy directs, trains and oversees all staff and volunteers involved in Moriah Ministries. Andy also developed the annual Moriah Golf Classic, helping to provide a firm financial base for the ministry.

Andy ministers with and leads our ministry staff. One part of Andy’s ministry focus is serving the GVSU Women’s Basketball team He enjoys serving the coaches, players and their families. Chap is at practices, on the road, at their summer camps and more.  When there is an injury, he is ready to encourage while recovery is happening. Andy also provides encouragement to the softball team as well as leadership to our volunteers serving football, track and field and more. A significant piece of Andy’s ministry involves training and equipping our ministry staff and volunteers. Following up with and mentoring our alumni after they graduate is another significant piece of Chap’s ministry. He leads and implements student, alumni and volunteer events over the course of each school year.

Each year Andy leads GVSU students on service project trips to serve both around the world and right here in the US. Teams have served in the Dominican Republic, offered tornado relief in Tuscaloosa, AL, traveled to China serving orphans with Bring Me Hope, served Nashville, TN providing flood relief and Homestead, Florida twice serving an urban kids ministry called KIX. He led a team to serve Appalachia in Asheville, North Carolina. Moriah has served in Birmingham, AL twice and we are headed back there again this spring. Andy has also led student service teams providing needed services right here in Michigan including Camp Roger, Grace Youth Camp, Young Life’s Timber Wolf Lake, Camp Mel Trotter and other locations needing a hand.

Valerie McDaniel (a.k.a. Mom Val) serves alongside Chap Andy assisting with all things administrative.  She is our website creator, social media manager, she assists Chap with ministry development, Val is our CareLinc Classic coordinator and she oversees our communications and organizational needs. As Chap’s wife, she has been part of his ministry story for the past 35 years.  She is “Mom Val” to many GVSU students as well as “Mom” to three amazing McDaniel kiddos and 2 of the best sons-in-law around AND she loves being “Grammy” to 5 beautiful tiny people!
